Freidrich (Fritz) Seitz (1848-1918) was a German composer and violinist. He wrote over fifty works, mostly for educational purposes, many of which are still in popular use today. His Student Concerto No.5 (Schüler-Concert Nr. 5; Op. 22) was written for Violin and Piano in three movements. It became famous when it was included in Suzuki’s eponymous Violin method, creating generations of fans that have enjoyed playingit.
Seitz’ terrific post-romantic concerti are full of practical instructional usage and melodic joy to encourage and inspire younger players, students or pianists who enjoy the late Romantic repertoire.
