transcribed for horn and piano by Matthew Mauro
Joseph Schwantner originally wrote Black Anemones as one of the songs in his Two Poems of Agueda Pizzaro for voice and piano; he also transcribed it for flute and piano. Upon hearing this stunningly beautiful work on a flute recital, french horn player, Matthew Mauro, set out to create a new version for horn and piano. The transcription includes all of Joseph Schwantner’s original markings, but adds some modest recommendations to accommodate the horn’s natural tendencies.
