Urtext edition of Twelve Pieces, Op. 59 by Max Reger. This cyclical work was Reger’s first composition to be published by Edition Peters in 1901 in two publications, EP3008a and EP3008b. This Urtext edition combines both into one volume with revised and updated notation, instructive preface, introduction to Reger’s performance practice and critical commentary by the editor—organist and Reger expert, Martin Schmeding.
This edition also includes arrangements of pieces 5–9 by Karl Straube, organist and friend of Reger, produced in 1912 and 1919 ‘with the composer’s consent’. The inclusion of these arrangements in the present edition provides thought-provoking starting points for historically informed interpretation.
