George Nicholson 's Shadow Play for Flute and Clarinet in A. Duration: c. 12 minutes. Shadow Play was composed in the autumn of 2015. The title is intended to suggest the nature of the relationship between the two instruments, which constantly shadow each other in the course of the piece, as well as the character of much of the musical material ('shadowy' and evanescent). There are four short movements - the last two linked together - and the music is by turns playful and reflective. First performed by Simon Desorgher and Philip Edwards, 18th London New Wind Festival, 20th November 2015.
