This album contains the scores of two pieces in honor of Elgar's wife, Caroline Alice. "Salut d'Amour" was composed as an engagement gift for her in 1889, and "String Serenade" was composed for their wedding anniversary three years later. "Salut d'Amour" is one of Elgar's most famous pieces, and this album contains the score for a small orchestra. "String Serenade" is a repertoire piece for string orchestras that is also played in string ensemble classes at schools. The commentary is by Haruo Tomatsu, an official member of the Elgar Society of Great Britain.
