Arkansas

The State of Arkansas is nicknamed "The Natural State" or "The Land of Opportunity". This concert work fits into the series of American states and landscapes set to music by Jacob de Haan, including Dakota, Oregon and Virginia. It is a suite in three movements based on a well-known folk song from Arkansas, which runs - sometimes complete, sometimes fragmentary, as a ballad, in variations or even in jazzy rhythms - as a red thread through the three movements of this varied composition.
